The following is only for charities who have been approached by The Tolkien Trust and invited to submit an application.
Please do not send unsolicited applications as the Trust does not have the capacity to process these, and does not wish applicants to waste time writing applications that will not be appraised.
Format and Content of Applications:
Only if you have been requested by the Trust to submit an application, will it be considered.
The Trust does not publish guidelines on the content of applications, so an applicant is free to include any information which is relevant.
Applications should be made in writing and sent by post to the Trust’s correspondent at the address below.
The Tolkien Trust
267 Banbury Road
Applicants are asked not to e-mail or telephone the Trust.
Timeline for Applications:
The Trust makes its decisions about donations annually. Any applications should be timed to reach the Trust by no later than 30th June.
Acknowledgement of Applications:
Given the large volume of applications received by the Trust, it is not possible to acknowledge receipt.
Notification of Successful Applicants:
Applicants who submit their applications by 30th June will hear from the Trust by 30th November, if they have been successful.
To keep administrative costs to a minimum, it is not possible to notify applicants who have been unsuccessful. If, therefore, an applicant has not heard from the Trust by 30th November, the application can be assumed to have been unsuccessful.
