The Tolkien Trust is a UK registered charity. It was established in 1977 by the four children of the author, J R R Tolkien, to enable the Tolkien family to give regularly to its chosen charitable causes.

The Trust is wholly discretionary, which means that the trustees decide whom to benefit on the basis of their own knowledge of charities operating in areas of interest to them.

The Trust has traditionally supported a wide spectrum of charitable causes and concerns throughout the world. You can read more about the Trust's work on the About us page of this website.

Unfortunately the Trust does not have the capacity to appraise uninvited applications.

Please only submit an application if you have been invited to do so by the Trust.
